Xinachtli Young Women’s Rites of Passage Program Curriculum Training
November 18, 2021 @ 9:00AM — November 20, 2021 @ 3:00PM Mountain Time (US & Canada)
Xinachtli (Nahuatl for germinating seed) is a gender-responsive, culturally-based rites of passage philosophy, process, and curriculum that promotes healing, resilience, and leadership capacity of Chicana, Latina and Indigenous girls. The philosophy and curriculum supports the reframing of a new narrative of transformation healing and advocacy rooted in a gender, racial justice, anti-oppression framework. The Xinachtli curriculum provides a dialectic process of: • Reflexión (reflection) • Concientización (critical consciousness) • Creacion (creation) • Accion (action)
All trained participants will be certified in the Xinachtli Rites of Passage curriculum. This 3 day training will support facilitators in their life-skills work with girls and gender expansive youth. The Xinachtli training prepares facilitators to provide a supportive process for youth to develop a positive identity, life skills and support system; based on indigenous principals of the individual’s interconnectedness to the family, the community and the nation.
