El Tonalpohualli, un taller de dos dias EN LINEA y BILINGÜE con la Maestra Martha Ramirez-Oropeza 8-9 de octubre, 2022 de 9-12:00 PST. In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Los Angeles Indigenous Peoples' Alliance, we are excited to invite you to this beautiful workshop providing a foundation of understanding of the pre-hispanic calendar system of the Mexica. The calendar of the Mexica is a functional and visual representation of the Mexica Dialectic Process and cosmovision. Please join us for this opportunity to ground and deepen our understanding of this complex and precise system of day and cycle keeping. En celebración del 30 aniversario de la Alianza de Pueblos Indígenas de Los Ángeles, nos complace invitarlo a este hermoso taller que brinda una base para comprender el sistema de calendario prehispánico de los mexicas. El calendario de los mexicas es una representación funcional y visual del proceso dialéctico y cosmovisión mexica. Únase a nosotros para esta oportunidad de fundamentar y profundizar nuestra comprensión de este sistema complejo y preciso de seguimiento de días y ciclos. Maestra Martha is a jewel! She is an expert in codices and indigenous math. Martha Ramirez-Oropeza is a mural painter, a performer in popular theater, and a researcher / lecturer of the Nahuatl pre-Hispanic codices of Mexico. She was vice-director of the Mascarones Theatre Group for 32 years, and designed and co-founded the Nahuatl University pyramid campus in Ocotepec, Morelos, Mexico. She apprenticed under master muralist David A. Siqueiros, Guillermo Monroy in the Fine Arts Institute, and, more recently, under Chicana muralist Judith F. Baca. She conducts international Nahuatl Culture seminars in Mexico and lectures at the University of California, Los Angeles. She is also an artist in residence at the Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC) in Venice, California, and is a performing and visual arts teacher for children in a Spanish total immersion school in Santa Monica, California. Martha Ramírez-Oropeza es pintora de mural, intérprete de teatro popular e investigadora y profesora de los códices prehispánicos náhuatl de México. Fue subdirectora del Grupo de Teatro Mascarones durante 32 años, y diseñó y cofundó el campus piramidal de la Universidad Náhuatl en Ocotepec, Morelos, México. Fue aprendiz del maestro muralista David A. Siqueiros, Guillermo Monroy en el Instituto de Bellas Artes y, más recientemente, de la muralista chicana Judith F. Baca. Dirige seminarios internacionales de cultura náhuatl en México y da conferencias en la Universidad de California, Los Ángeles. También es artista residente en el Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC) en Venice, California, y es maestra de artes escénicas y visuales para niños en una escuela de inmersión total en español en Santa Mónica, California.
